I have always believed in building my own email list. After all, social media platforms often limit the number of people who see your posts due to changing rules and algorithms.
With an email list, you have direct access to your audience, allowing consistent communication and full control over your contacts.
While gaining followers on social media is often easier, growing an email list leads to a more engaged and trusting audience.
Subscribers choose to receive your content, showing genuine interest in what you offer. This trust results in higher engagement and a more loyal following.
This is why marketers use lead magnets to get more subscribers.
And I did the same.
The Experiment
I have been in the content industry for quite some years as a writer, a content specialist, and now a content marketing manager. In the process of creating content strategies, I always felt the need for a good content strategy template that can be tailored to the company's goals and resources.
Now the challenge here is, I have not been able to find a really good content strategy template.
And to solve this challenge, I created my own template.

I recorded a Loom video walkthrough to showcase the template's features and guide users through its effective use. This visual demonstration aimed to clarify and highlight the template's practical applications.
Set Up a Landing Page
Using ConvertKit, I created a dedicated landing page that detailed the template's benefits. The page included a sign-up form, allowing interested individuals to access the resource by providing their first names and email addresses.
Pro Tip: Keep your sign-up forms concise. Only include essential questions to minimize friction and encourage more users to complete the process. Overloading forms with unnecessary questions can deter potential subscribers.
Promote on LinkedIn
I crafted a LinkedIn post announcing the template, discussing its value and inviting users to comment if they wished to receive it. This approach not only increased engagement but also expanded the post's reach.
Engage with Respondents
Upon receiving comments, I replied with a link to the landing page, guiding users to sign up and access the template. This direct interaction fostered trust and encouraged more users to engage.
Results
Implementing this strategy led to a significant increase in my email subscriber base. Within 72 hours of sharing the LinkedIn post, over 400 professionals subscribed to access the content strategy template. This surge in subscribers expanded my audience and enhanced engagement with my content. The positive feedback received highlighted the value of addressing a specific industry need and demonstrated the effectiveness of targeted lead-generation tactics.
P.S. After a day, the subscribers' list has increased to 150 and is still growing.
